I'm actually interested in hearing about what others feed their rabbits. Currently I feed mine Buckeye 16% protein! I hear it's great for LH's! It's $12 for a 50 lb bag although I've heard of getting it for $8 at feed stores for the same size.

I am REALLY interested in PENPALS 16% because i've heard such good things about it. But I tried finding dealer locators and they are all too far.

A lot of people have had GREAT luck with purina professional. I know probably atleast 8 people who use that feed. However I have also heard a lot of Rabbitry horror stories about them losing their entire herds because of a bad bag from the local mill. A lot of people say it's great and it depends on your location and what mill processes it. The mill in this area (EAST COAST) I haven't really heard any stories. But it still makes me nervous!

There are a few other foods i've heard about... Our local Agway and tractor supply really doesn't have much of a selection but sometimes if I hear about a brand I can do the dealer locator and see if it's nearby at a place I dont know about.

Well I'm rambling about this, but I'd love to hear about what you feed your rabbits, and why??? Smile

Wow! That much for a 10lb bag? We pay 13 for a 50lb and on their top show (wich I don't like for Lionheads as too much protein seems to make them loose their manes) is about 15 for a 25lb bag. I thought tractor supply would charge the same no matter what as it is a large chain company. I guess if they can get away with charging more they will. After all it is a company like all others are.

It is called dumore show. Their are two types. One is in a 25lb bag and has much hight protien. And then you have the 50 bag with have a lower proetein. I used the lower one (green bag).

We feed Purina Show (blue bag), and it contains 16% protein. We've had a lot of luck with it and being we have Satins, it seems to keep their fur in better condition. (Isn't it fun having breeds with special coats?)

I really like to feed my commercial sized babies Purina Professional (gray bag), which has 18% protein. It has the extra protein they need to support thier growing needs. The downside, is that it really is bad on fur condition as it has too much protein. The first time I tried feeding it to all my rabbits, it kept my show bunnies in an almost constant state of molt.

I now just feed Purina Show to everyone. The babies seem to do really well on it.

I pay $13 for a 50 pound bag and I buy it at the local feed mill.

I am aware of a couple breeders that swear by Fouls (not sure if that's spelled right), but the majority of the breeders I know don't like it and feed Purina Show.

The key to any feed is the turnaround and how fast it's sold. I know a lot of people who feed Purina, and I have never heard of anyone having problems with it.

Yeah that's what I always have to watch, those smaller show bags are more but they always seem to have more protein and my LH's can't handle it... so I use buckeye with 16%. It also have a natural ingredient that helps with ammonia smell too, so that's good too. I have no compliants.

Well we are lucky to be able to get Purina green bag! I pay 10.85 per 50 lf bag. Everything else around here is local feed stores that mill their own....sorry just dont trust them, what do they know about making rabbit feed when they bulk out sweet feed for cows. Anyway, I remember my mother telling me that Purina was the best. But also remember feeding Prime Quality Feeds to the horses but dont remember if they had rabbit feed, and that was many moons ago.

My friend and I are learning to put in lots of additions to our Purina green bag to get the results we need and want. Of course, we are still perfecting that, we'll let you know how it turns out!!

I feed my rabbits feed from Rural King. It is called Rabbit feed and has a brown and blue bag. My rabbits seem to do well on it. I buy it because it has enough protein (it has 17%; I raise New Zealands and I have heard they are supposed to have 17% or more) and it is only $7.79 a bag.
